One more week to hols! Yay!
I WATCHED PHANTOM YESTERDAY NIGHT!-obsessing-
The ballet was soooo nice! First time I've actually watched a ballet live. This is real ballet people! XD Aha. They were all in sync! So pretty! and somewhere deep deep inside me regrets stopping ballet back in P6. Hmm. Anyway. Yes the Masquerade scene was the best. And the ballet part in the centre too. Actually they were mostly dancing all the way. Haha.
THE MUSIC OWNS. Duh. Lovely lovely mini, psuedo orchestra! =D (Went to peep into the pit during intervals =x) The "orchestra" was DAMN SMALL! Zomg. Peered at the conductors score and and and! There were only two clarinettists (one also plays bass clar), two flautists (one also plays the piccolo), one viola, violin, cello, and double bass, and two french horns. INTERESTING HUH. And 3 keyboards for umm. Synthetic music. PLUS a whole array of percussion instruments! Played by one person I think. COOLNESS. Brilliant, I say. It was so funny when the part came about the Phantom commenting on 3rd Trombone, cause its all synthetic music. LOL. The wonders of technology and genius. (:
The singing, of course, was the best. (its a musical, duh) Opera-ish singing :D It was simply damn good. To the point of perfection I reckon. And not only the leads, every single one of them. I wanna take them home with me! Oh and I love how they sing the different songs together. The melody is different but the songs just blends together (though the Phantom's singing overpowers Christine's and hers overpowers Raoul's). Nice effect!
Acting was damn good too. PHANTOM!!!!! xD "doesn't the last scene make you want to cry? [Sniff]" - Deb, VERY loosely quoted.
THE PROPS AND EFFECTS AND COSTUMES! Zomg damn real! Love the part when the organs came on and the chandelier lurched forward and swung dangerous towards the audience and then was pulled up to the ceiling. It was then I wished I was sitting at row A-E instead of R. LOL. Love the river scene and the boat effect. SO REAL! And the scene before that where they walk down the corridors. OH and the scene before all these, when Christine first sings and the curtain is pulled open and she receives flowers and an ovation from the "audience" opposite from us. IT LOOKED SO REAL. (:
-ends obsessing, for now-
WOOTS. My only regret is watching the movie version before the musical. Blah :(
And I will read the book! Eventually...... =|
And get the soundtrack from Deb
And maybe buy the programme.
And as we said, its totally worth the money - its a ballet, musical, opera all rolled up into one brilliant show. Utmost respect for the cast and crew.
But his voice filled my spirit with a strange, sweet sound. In that night there was music in my mind.
And through music my soul began to soar! And I heard as I'd never heard before.
What you heard was a dream and nothing more. I will always love the 17th (: DK Sunshine! :D
